A New Initiative

At VSEUS, we know that employability is top of mind for many economics students. To support our diverse student body in improving their technical skills and enhancing their career prospects, VSEUS is implementing the Online Learning Program. Under this new initiative, students can receive a subsidy for taking any online course on the Coursera platform. Upon completion of their course and demonstrated proof of payment, students will receive a reimbursement of up to $90.

Typically, a Coursera course costs approximately $64 CAD to complete, of which we will be offering partial reimbursement.

  • Upon providing proof of payment and completion to VSEUS, students will be reimbursed up to $30 CAD per course and up to a maximum of 3 courses per academic year.

  • No more than $60 CAD will be reimbursed for courses within the same specialization.

Also, VSEUS has teamed up with Lean Six Sigma to provide VSE students with coupon codes for their most popular courses. Lean Six Sigma is a globally-recognized analytical framework which emphasizes reducing waste and solving process-related problems. Learn more about this special offer!

Using Python to Access Web Data

This specialization is a great introduction to programming. It offers the fundamentals of data structures, which are the cornerstone of all programming languages, as well as an understanding of iterated processes. A special part of the class is its instructor, Dr. Chuck, who uses graphics and insightful explanations to facilitate your understanding of the material. All the steps and details are also written in a short booklet, authored by the instructor himself.

R Specialization

A data scientist’s toolbox largely relies on two programming languages: Python and R.

How Will VSEUS Pay For It?

Typically, a Coursera course costs approximately $64 CAD to complete, of which we will be offering partial reimbursement. Upon providing proof of payment and completion to VSEUS, students will be reimbursed up to $30 CAD per course up to a maximum of 3 courses per academic year. Why Coursera?

Coursera was started in 2012 and soon became the preferred online-course platform for over 100 university partners across the world. Every course is designed by accredited professors at the partner universities and has a standard structure, composed of Video Lectures, Unmarked Quizzes, Marked Assignments and Forums to discuss these assignments. To complete any chapter, students must complete the marked assignments.

Once all chapters are completed, students receive a certificate for finishing the course that can be added to the LinkedIn profile page.
